With the introduction of blu-ray, Sony found many allies in various movie studios early on in the hd format battle with Toshiba who were pushing the hd dvd format. But it wasn’t until Blockbuster decided to exclusively carry blu-ray over the competition that Sony began seeing the hd market share turn in their favor. Since then Blockbuster and Sony have shared a prosperous relationship. Recently Blockbuster has made plans for set- top movie streaming which will soon be available in blu-ray players. With the newly announced NextFlix feature on the Xbox 360, it only makes sense that standard and hd movie streaming will soon be coming to the PS3 by way of Blockbuster.
