LOST PLANET 2: The PS3 is Waiting….

Awhile back Playstation ThEvolution wrote an article asking the question, “Does the PS3 Really Need This Game?” due to the many multiplatform titles on the horizon along with the incredible PS3 exclusives releasing this year. In that same article we asked the question, would PS3 users really be missing out if CAPCOM decided to keep this LOST PLANET 2 as a 360 exclusive? Well, let me first state that regardless of the plethora of titles coming out on the PS3 in 2009, LOST PLANET 2 looks absolutely amazing and must be experienced by PS3 users. LOST PLANET 2 echoes the same influences of the great PS2 title named Shadow Of The Colossus.
I must apologize for ever insinuating that LOST PLANET 2 was not needed for the PS3. Taking down creatures the size of Godzilla with three other players online is a must-have experience for all gamers regardless of the platform. All great games or games that appear great such as LOST PLANET 2 should be experienced by everyone.
Capcom please bring this game to the PS3, you won’t be dissapointed.

Dead Rising 2 Will Have Multi-player

Initinally Capcom shot down any reports of a multiplayer for its upcoming horror game but it seems as they were trying to pull the “wool over our eyes”. Today Capcom has officially stated today that Dead Rising 2 will have a multiplayer compenent.
Here is the full story according to Eurogamer;
Capcom R&D kingpin Keiji Inafune has confirmed that Dead Rising 2 features multiplayer after all, despite confusion at GDC earlier this year.
“We’re at a point in game history that you need to have some form of multiplayer component in a game,” Inafune told journalists at Captivate 09 in Monaco last week.
“Single-player alone is not going to cut it. So rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game, but I can’t go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don’t want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer, so keep that in mind.”
Inafune held court over an hour-long demonstration of the survival horror sequel, revealing that development partner Blue Castle Games manages to do 7,000 zombies on-screen at once - and showing us that in action.
UNCHARTED 2: Multiplayer & Co-op Confirmed

Last week there was speculation that Sony/Naughty Dog would be offering up a new multiplayer and cooperative modes to Uncharted 2 and now Sony has officially confirmed it with a resounding yes. As a huge fan of the series, this writer is truly excited about these new online features.
Now users will be able to compete in a competitive mode such as the traditional deathmatch and a capture the flag mode called Plunder. Also more excitingly, users will now have the opportunity to complete the single player campaign cooperatively. This mode will allow up to three (3) players who will traverse the single player mode online which is said to be slightly altered for the co-op mode.
On May 26th PS3 users will be able to access the multiplayer beta of Uncharted 2 by making a purchase Sony’s latest PS3 exclusive, INFAMOUS.

ANTIVIRUS For The Playstation 3

As we all know the Playstation 3 is a hybrid of many offerings and one of the highly used key features of the system is the internet browser. Since the launch of the system, Sony has better enabled the systems browser and by most accounts has been explicitly virus free. Nevertheless, according to PS3Addiction, Trend Micro, an industry leader in Anti-Virus services has implemented an anti-virus service for Playstation 3 users.
PS3Addiction writes;
It seems that with the latest update of firmware 2.70, Trend Micro is offering a trial service for the Playstation 3 web browser in two varieties.
The first of which is a web filter, which will help you filter out adult content and spam to keep your children safe on the web. The filter will remove images and search results of innappropriate matter as well as block known websites that contain adult content and illegal matter.
The second is a privacy lock, that helps protect your personal data such as email addresses, passwords and credit card information from falling into the wrong hands. The filter also eliminates most spoof sites of your favorite web destinations, like Paypal knockoffs and Ebay shams.
While security on the Playstation 3 has never been an issue, it is nice to know that a company is stepping up to offer services to the unique platform, providing an added peace of mind to an ever-growing market.
In this ever-changing market of technology you can never be too certain. Despite their never being any virus issues with the Playstation 3 browser, Playstation 3 users will now have a peace of mind knowing there is an immediate solution just in case.

For all you Bad Company fans, you will proud to learn that EA has increased the game’s original 24 player online mode to 40 players in the next installment.
A scan from the EA: Bad Company 2 discussion forum with this information reads:
EA hasn’t yet made any announcements about the multiplayer side of the game. The only thing we know for certain is that 40 people will be able to duke it out on to servers when the sequel hits rather than Bad Company’s previous player cap of 24. New game modes and plenty of maps a shoo-in however, that’s what sequels are made for after all.
