UBISOFT: LOCKED N LOADED
On April - 2 - 2009

According to GameInformer magazine, video game publisher and developer Ubisoft is gearing up to release a series of franchise titles. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that through March 2010 the company will release “seven franchise titles.” He went on to mention four of them:
Assassins Creed 2
Splinter Cell Conviction
Red Steel 2

Undisclosed Tom Clancy Game.

With this lineup, Killzone 2 setting the tone and a possible God Of War 3 release (fingers crossed), 2009 is going to be a great year for gaming.

This is very nice list indeed. 2009 is shaping up to be the best year of next-gen gaming by far.

I just really hope assassins creed could steer away from the repetitive missions.

Assassins Creed was repetitive, a good repetitive I might add. But I hope part 2 is not as repetitive.

Its good to see PS3 folks excited for an OG Xbox company. Nice to have you guys on board. I suppose if Splinter, Rainbow, and Ghost were still just for the Xbox i wonder if you would give these games the time of day??? Everyone who has had an Xbox and a 360 always support UBISOFT and Tom Clancy and i always preferred Splinter over MGS4. Hey Shado, you know UBISOFT makes there games for the Xbox first don’t you.
P.S. What about our bet? I’m just waiting to wax you in Soul Caliber on the 360!!!

When I had my xbox I stayed with a Ubisoft game. Its no doubt that they put out some hits but come on eman3d, Splinter cell over Metal Gear!?!?! Splinter cell is like a female who has a an ok face but has the body of a goddess. Metal Gear is that female who is just fine all over.

There are reasons why i prefer Splinter over MGS4. I, of course, too has a PS2 and MGS1 and 2 were so much fun, i played the game over Shadowolf’s house! It was great, but something started happening. The cutscenes go longer and longer and gameplay started shrinking. I’m all for a good story but when 3 quarters of the game is watching and 1 quarter is playing…. know what i’m saying?
When Splinter Cell dropped it was a more realistic setup and the graphics on the Xbox made the PS2 look like Atari. Plus Splinter utilized REAL shadows and the AI did not reset when you ran through a door. It was alot of things like that which mademore of a fan of Slinter Cell.

Thats what I kinda don’t like about metal gear 4 because the cutscenes sometimes drown out the gameplay.

What about Prince of Persia 2!!

@ R2_Deuce
Thats why i stopped playing MGS. It just became a movie and that is not gaming. I am all about interaction and making my onscreen character manipulate the outcome of whatever scenario that is thrown my way thus having me responsible for the outcome of the story i am participating in. Whew! That was a long sentence. I kind of have a love hate response to God of War as well. I know I know, what can i possibly be talking about. God of War is a masterpiece when it comes to the scope of the world you are playing in and it has an unlimited amount of imagination. It is the perfect storm as far as creating creatures and story content and environments. What i do not like as much is the ‘match the button sequence’ when fighting creatures. To me that is so weak and elementary. I want to decide how i want to kill the creature i am fighting!!! If i have a move that allows me to do this or do that i should be able to choose my attack rather then rely on a predetermined death that is achieved by match button presses. To me that takes away from the feeling that I killed the creature through my thinking and my skills. They should change the fighting in God of War and make it more personal. I’m telling you man, i should be a designer. Hopefully someday i will.

Ghost Recon was my favorite Ubisoft game, Rainbow six was very overrated

Sony has so many problems right now one can only hope it’s games will somehow help but i doubt it. Until Sony realizes that the only way to survive is by LOWERING their price it won’t be pretty.a
Sony net profit falls 95% in Q3
Strong yen drags down earnings
By MARK SCHILLING, MARK SCHILLING
Revenue at Sony Pictures fell 22% to $1.9 billion despite the strong Bond pic ‘Quantum of Solace.’
Sony’s net profit dropped 95% in the third quarter due to a strengthening yen, the gloomy economy and stiffer price competition from electronics rivals.
Sony announced Thursday a net profit of ¥10.4 billion ($115.6 million) for the October-December 2008 period, down from$2.22 billion the same period the previous year.
Meanwhile, the third-quarter operating loss totaled $199 million, compared with an operating profit of $2.62 billion in the third quarter of the 2007 financial year.
Sony Pictures had a 6% increase in operating net on a U.S. dollar basis, but currency issues dragged it down to an 8% drop.
Revenue at Sony Pictures fell 22% to $1.9 billion despite a strong showing by James Bond installment “Quantum of Solace” as well as ancillary play for “Hancock” and “Step Brothers.” The year-earlier quarter made for tough comparisons given the homevid release of “Spider-Man 3.”
The electronics division, once a reliable cash cow even when other areas of the company were faltering, suffered an operating loss of $176.7 million as holiday sales of Bravia TVs and other once-hot products failed to live up to expectations. A year ago, the division reported a $2.23 billion profit.
The games division reported a 97% drop in operating profit, to $4.4 million. Sales of PlayStation 3 software gained 14.8 million units year-to-year to 40.8 million, but sales of PS2 and PSP software declined.
Meanwhile, PS3 hardware sales slid 440,000 units year-to-year to 4.46 million units, while sales of PS2 and PSP also fell. Sony blamed the appreciation of the yen against the dollar and euro for the anemic sales results, which dragged profits down.
As announced last week, Sony expects to record its first annual losses in 14 years, with a net loss of $1.67 billion and operating loss of $2.89 billion.
