DANTE’S INFERNO Challenges The God of War
Ever since we first experienced the original GOD OF WAR, many gamers and critics alike have esteemed the series and it’s main character as the defacto anti-hero and action adventure in gaming today. Truth be told, it is hard to ignore the brilliance of the series and while we wait for the third and final chapter which is slated for a March 2010 release, it appears there is a new character and series in the making that looks to relieve the mighty Kratos of his duties.
By way of EA/Visceral Games comes Dante’s Inferno. Not much has been shown of this new adventure however, what has been shown displays and amazing looking universe that is covered in colossal level designs that have been influenced by images of fire and brimstone. Taking a page right out of God of War, Dante’s Inferno features a hero named Dante of course, who wields a multifunctional sickle-like weapon as his main instrument of death. Unlike Kratos, who goes about his business at a merciless pace Dante appears to be more noble as he battles the nine circles of the underworld; Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, Fraud and Treachery.
Imagery and atmosphere is at the top of the list for Dante’s Inferno. Again Dante’s Inferno’s visual style echoes those of the adventures of God of War while having it’s own identity. Dante’s Inferno oozes with style and the gameplay looks to offer an over the top experience as well
As Dante’s Inferno is slated for a December 2010 release, gamers will certainly have gotten their feel of Kratos’ next adventure and once again the bar will have been set even higher. Regardless, Dante’s Inferno is looking to take the adventures of Kratos to the next level and hopefully high enough to force Kratos out of retirement.

kratos will fuck dante up the ass at high speed, this will be a mini game in god of war 3 where the player taps x repeatedly until kratos unloads, then when dante dies due to deep anal penetration, his death will release an abundance of red orbs enabling kratos to upgrade his combat tactics, THERE IS ONLY 1 GOD OF WAR, no game will ever take its place, if developers do create games similar to GOW, they will only get brushed to the side coz its just a copy of the mighty GOW.

When it comes to the ultimate anti-hero video game character, KRATOS is the epitome - No Doubt!
Also, if you read the article more carefully it doesn’ t state that Dante’s Inferno will force the mighty KRATOS into retirement, it says out of retirement. GOW 3 is the last chapter in the series as we know it. So hopefully Kratos will make a return back to the black behemoth(PS3) after GOW 3.

GOW3 while cool (ripping helios head off made me fall of the chair, no game has made me laugh so uncontrollably)
better bring it because its got some serious competition.
if done wright this could be GOTY2010.
that is if diablo 3 or half life 2 epp 3 or doom 4 dont come out then.

I think this game is gonna be good. But gow3 will be a lot better.
And as for who’s gonna win.. Kratos/Dante.. Kratos will definitely win no doubt about it.

that was the funniest thing i read all day it doesn’t even look close to GoW 3 that shit looked like gow 0.7 the animation are allot worse the game doesn’t have the scale gow3 has the combat looks even slower the boss (not the fire breath one) they showed looked like the statue guy you meet in gow2 the graphics looked allot worse and looked very low res at many moments and there was no gore like gow3

We spoke with some of the guys from Visceral Games at this years E3 expo and they mentioned that December 2010 is a date that helps them play it safe. From the looks of the game, they are putting a lot of work into it. TKC, trust us when we say this game will be very impressive. Of course God Of War is the standard and it is going to be great to experience GOW 3 in the beginning of 2010 and Dante’s Inferno at the end of 2010.

god dam it first it was this year than it was Q2 2010 now end of 2010.
whats next mid 2015.
i hate it when games get set back so many times, if you cant finish off the game by a certain time dont say the game will be out by then.
same goes for GT5 how many times has that been delayed,
heavy rain how many times has that been delayed.
heist was set as late 2008 than may 2009 and now late 2009.
is there 1 single game that actualy comes out on its ORIGINAL date or even earlier?
because i cant think of one.
if sucker punch can make infamous in 2 years why cant others.
and as far as i know sucker punch is a verry small team.

at whatt name said about GOW3 having the beginning of the year nd dante the end but were forgetting sigma 2 in late 09 for u NG fans out there so while were playing sigma 2 the wait for GOW won’t seem so long

I dont understand why people are worshipping Kratos like hes some sort of….God?(damnit). Anyways, i feel that this game has potential. i like GOW, but i feel as though asides from the graphics upgrade, nothing really new has been shown from GOW3, save for more blood and more violence. This game doesnt try to challenge GOW on any level, but rather take whats good from GOW, and apply it to a new world, a new setting, a new story, new charcters, a new,different, unique game. its basically like comparing apples with oranges. Did you not know that imitation is the highest form of flattery? So, this game could be some sort of tribute to the GOW franhise. But youve gotta admit, it takes some serius ball power to attempt at recreating a GOW-like game, what other developer has got the motivation to try and take on Metal gear Solid or Final fantasy? None, thats what. So at leats give this game half a chance, you never know, there is a slght chance of GOW3 being overhyped, with Dante’s Inferno becomng the victor, but im not holding my breath.

@Noctis Clone-Of-Zack, Great comment about the potential of Dante’s Inferno. This game does look extremely promising and yes it does take the balls of the gods to take on the GOW series with a game that sort of mirrors it.
