UNCHARTED 2 DOES IT AGAIN: GameCon BEST CONSOLE GAME
DISNEY/MARVEL Acquisition Worth $4 Billion

Today Mickey Mouse and friends have officially adopted a lot of super human family members in the form of MARVEL. It is official, Disney has acquired MARVEL for an incredible $4 billion dollar price tag.
Gamespot writes;
“On the video games front, [Marvel has] some what we see as smart licensing agreements with some of the best video game manufacturers in the business,” Disney president and CEO Bob Iger said. “And while we have been steadily moving in a vertically integrated direction, we don’t rule out the possibility of a blend of licensed games, as well as self-produced and self-distributed. And what is nice about this is that as some of these deals near expiration, we have the luxury of at that time considering what is best for the company both from a financial perspective, from a quality perspective, and an exposure perspective.”
Even though both companies board of director’s have signed the acquisition, additional approvals must be met by MARVEL shareholders and government regulators.

Quantic Dream: Heavy Rain QTE criticism is ‘bull***t’

Over a month ago we here at Thevolution network(one E) released a rather controversial article entitled “Heavy Rain: A Perfect Example Of Smoke and Mirrors”. As you can imagine this did not sit well with the Heavy Rain following and we were recipients of some rather “unfavorable” comments. Well its seems as if I (R2Deuce) was not the only one criticizing Quantic Dream for its lack of effort in their upcoming release “Heavy Rain”.
Joystiq writes;
Quantic Dream bigwig David Cage has brushed off criticism accusing the firm’s upcoming PlayStation 3 thriller Heavy Rain for being over reliant on quick time events.
The studio co-founder didn’t mince his words when given the opportunity to hit out at recent criticism of the hotly anticipated title at GamesCom last week, stating, “Bullshit! Just bullshit! I mean what’s the question? We released Fahrenheit before. People know very well what the kind of balance we’re looking for is. The balance is quite similar in Heavy Rain.”
Cage noted that sceptics are likely confused by the game’s 3D interface, mistaking it for quick time events, when in fact you are given absolute freedom to explore and interact with the environment around you.
“I think that people who didn’t see any demos or did not play the game are a little bit confused by the fact that the interface is in 3D. It’s not quick time events. You navigate. You’re free to explore. It’s just that the interface, instead of being 2D icons in the lower corner, they are now inside the set. That’s the only difference. You control the character second to second, and the balance is quite similar to Fahrenheit. There’s no difference.”
Wrapping up, Cage stated emphatically that the game’s objective is to tell the story through gameplay segments, not cut scenes – if it were the latter, he noted it wouldn’t be any different than making a movie.
“You know when you make a first-person shooter, you just see ten seconds and you know what the game is about,” said Cage. “When you see a game that has no real reference, that is kind of different, it’s really difficult. Some people imagine things. Don’t be afraid. It’s not quick time based. All the purpose of Heavy Rain is to tell the story not through cutscenes but through gameplay. I would be stupid just to release cutscenes. I mean what’s the point? I’d better make movie then. That’s silly.”

It’s OFFICIAL: GOD OF WAR Collection Coming To Blu-ray This Holiday

This announcement by Sony is truly music to the ears of millions of gamers who now will be able to experience the incredible adventures of Kratos on the PS3. A survey held by Sony earlier this year asking for gamer input has finally become a reality with this latest announcement.
Sony will not only allow PS3 users the ability to unleash the fury of Kratos in the form of GOD OF WAR & GOD OF WAR 2, but hardcore fans and newcomers to this amazing franchise will be able to experience them both on blu-ray in 720p HD form.
Playstationblog write;
Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.
Regardless of the lack backward compatibility, bringing one of their largest PS2 franchises to the PS3 on the blu-ray format with the recent PS3 price drop and GOD OF WAR 3 just around the corner, Sony is doing an amazing job making the PS3 irresistible.

DEMONS SOULS: Hot New Screenshots

OVERVIEW:
King Allant the XII, the last king of Boletaria, searched tirelessly to expand his might. The Nexus, a great ice shrine nestled in the mountains, bestowed the power of the souls onto him, bringing prosperity to his kingdom. Still unsated, he returned again to the Nexus, where he foolishly awakened the Old One from its eternal slumber. This long forgotten evil, now wrought upon Boletaria, plunged the realm into darkness and fog. A mighty demon horde poured into the kingdom, devouring the souls of men.
Champions from other realms learned of Boletaria’s fate and sought to deliver the kingdom from evil; none would return from the cursed land. Called upon by a mysterious maiden in black, you go forth, the last hope for humanity in a place lost to demons and darkness…Official website

“It Only Does Everything”: Great New PS3 Commercial Ad
BATMAN: Arkham Asylum Mid-Night Launch At GAMESTOP

As the world awaited the arrival of what has been labeled the greatest comic book superhero videogame ever, Gamestop hosted the BATMAN: Arkham Asylum mid-night launch party in Glendale, Arizona. ThEvolution Network was on hand as fans of BATMAN and his many arch-enemies came out in droves to finally get a taste of the Dark Knights latest adventure.
From Batman and The Joker to Catwoman, Zsasz, Harley Quinn and even ‘The Bus Driver’ from The Dark Knight Movie, fans were definitely in character and in high spirits for the mid-night launch party of BATMAN: Arkham Asylum. Gamestop put together a great event as the Salvation Army was also on hand to spread the love. The event featured face-painting for kids and adults, a costume contest, raffle prizes and also The Riddler brain-teasers which were a big hit.
With so many poorly developed comic-book based superhero titles, last years announcement of BATMAN: Arkham Asylum left Batman enthusiasts some-what excited yet concerned about the final build of the game. However, as more light was shed on this new title in the form of the latest E3 expo where we were finally got our hands on this ambitious title, and the latest reviews which consistently praise the efforts of developer RockSteady, all doubt have been quickly erased. From our experience with BATMAN: Arkham Asylum there is no question that RockSteady has developed a true contender for 2009 Game of The Year honors.
Currently BATMAN: Arkham Asylum is maintaining an excellent review rating average of 91/100 from Metacritic across both the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Be sure to check out our BATMAN: Arkham Asylum Mid-Night Launch video.
