FINAL FANTASY XIII: PS3 & Xbox 360 Differences

Finally the truth comes out about the Final Fantasy XIII differences for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. According to FinalFantasy-XIII.net Square Enix has officially announced the platform differences which shouldn’t be much of a surprise as the Xbox 360 utilizes the DVD format while the PS3 uses the blu-ray format.
In an interview in Famitsu they state that the video and audio is compressed on the Xbox 360 DVDs while the Playstation 3 version will be uncompressed and appear on a dual-layer blu-ray disc. The 360 version will obviously be released on multiple DVDs. This means that the uncompressed game will be 25GB minimum.
Does this mean the game will offer an all together better experience on the PS3? Not really however, it depends on how you look at it. Due to compression on the Xbox 360 the game may not run quite as smooth as it’s PS3 counterpart however, Square Enix more than likely have ironed out any setbacks compression could have caused.
Based on the most current screenshots the game looks the same on both consoles. Also, due to the storage capacity of the blu-ray format the complete game will be offered on one disc on the PS3 as opposed to multiple disc swapping on the Xbox 360. For owners of both consoles this might lean them more towards the PS3 versions of the game.
