GOD OF WAR III Selling 550,000 Copies On Day One In The U.S.

It seems Kratos in his latest megaton action hit has come out with a BANG as VGChartz reports on the latest sales numbers.
VGChartz writes;
Following news of over 450,000 pre-orders earlier in the week, preliminary day one data is in and God of War III should outperform God of War II (released on PS2 in March 2007) by 20-30%. With over 450,000 units sold on day one, week one sales should be in the range of 650,000 - 700,000 units compared to 540,000 sold for God of War II in week one.
Update - with more data now coming in, day one sales look closer to 550,000 units than the original estimate of 450,000 units. With continued strong sales through the week, week one in the Americas should be over 800,000 units and a further 400,000+ units are expected across Europe following indications of a strong launch today so week one estimates should be well clear of 1 million units and maybe as high as 1.3-1.4 million. We will have preliminary week one data early next week.

FINAL FANTASY XIII Becomes The Fastest Selling Title In Franchise History In UK
Square Enix Europe are pleased to announce that FINAL FANTASY XIII has become the fastest selling title in the FINAL FANTASY franchise history in the UK and also the fastest selling UK game of 2010 so far.
The news comes on the heels of the announcement last week that the sell-in shipment of the game has exceeded the five million unit milestone worldwide. Cumulative global shipments of the FINAL FANTASY series have now reached 96 million units since the first game was launched over two decades ago.
The latest part in the multi-award winning FINAL FANTASY series was released on 9 March 2010 in the UK for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system as well as the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system by Microsoft.
“It’s great to see FINAL FANTASY XIII hitting the top of the UK charts and setting the pace as the fastest selling game of the year,” said Jon Brooke, UK Marketing Director. “With high profile TV spots playing out beyond Easter and branded buses still travelling the country I’m positive this title is only going to get bigger and bigger.”

RUMOR: KILLZONE 3 Set For April 2011 Release

Rumors and more rumors and yes we pay careful attention to most of them.
Now according to 1UP, Rico, Sev, Natco and hopefully Shadow Mashall Lugar will be making a splash April 2011. Well to be fair, this is what 1UP has heard and as impressive as KILLZONE 2 was, let’s just hope for a well developed 3rd installment that will continue to push the envelope in the first person shooter department.
If you’ve played KILLZONE 2 and you’re asking yourself ‘who was Lugar’, well Lugar was one of the playable characters from the original KILLZONE on the PS2. Her abilities consisted of stealth knife attacks along with extraordinary sniper skills, she was basically a trained military assassin. There was a bit of a romantic history between Lugar and the late Col. Jan Templar which was hinted at in the original KILLZONE.
Hopefully Guerrilla Games can bring her back into the conflict.
METAL GEAR SOLID: Peacewalker Locked & Loaded For June 18 Release

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed that METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER – Hideo Kojima’s next instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series – will arrive on June 18th, 2010.
Series creator Hideo Kojima has crafted METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER as the next true chapter in the story of legendary special ops expert, Snake (AKA Big Boss), and acts as a direct sequel to the previously released Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Developed specifically for the PSP (Playstation Portable) system, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER is set in 1974 towards the end of the cold war and boasts an all-new story penned by Hideo Kojima.
Taking full advantage of the PSP format, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER takes the series in an exciting new direction with incredible visuals, as it sheds new light on well-known adversaries and allies, along with a wealth of new characters. In true Metal Gear Solid tradition, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER drops the player into a series of hostile scenarios, as a terrible plan for world domination is revealed.
METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER will be available for PS (PlayStation®Portable) and PSP go! and will support the new adhocParty mode, which connects PSP systems via a Playstation 3 unit, allowing players to use the game’s multiplayer mode online.
