We can’t emphasize enough how frustrating it must be not being able to connect to PSN or play certain blockbuster hits like Heavy Rain due to this recent PSN error. Trust us, we understand your pain and it seems so does Sony as they have issued some optimistic insight into resolving this problem.

Patrick Seybold Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media via the Playstation Blog write;

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

Errors include:

- The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.

- When the user tries to sign in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; “An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)”.

- When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; “Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game.”

- When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; “The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)”

- Users are not able to play back certain rental video downloaded from thePlayStation Store before the expiration date.

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours.

SEGA Europe Ltd. is pleased to announce that the demo for Yakuza 3 is now live on the PlayStation Network.

In the demo, players will take on the role of Kiryu Kazuma as they explore rich and realistic Japanese environments and complete a series of side missions from the game. They will also be able to try out the new deeper combat experience with two brutal and intense boss battles.

In addition to the Tokyo settings featured in the demo and the first two games, fans will also discover a completely new setting in Yakuza 3 with the tropical island of Okinawa. Here, accompanied by his adoptive daughter Haruka, Kazuma is now running an orphanage. However, he is allowed no respite in this idyllic retreat and before long he is once again forced to deal with his sordid past.

Meet some of the colourful cast of Yakuza 3 in the brand new ‘Characters’ trailer released today.

Yakuza 3 will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on 12th March 2010.

Capcom has announced the first downloadable episode for Resident Evil 5, “ LOST IN NIGHTMARES” which will be made available on PlayStation Network tomorrow, February 18.

B.S.A.A. agents, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine have tracked down the location of Umbrella founder Ozwell E. Spencer’s mansion. Previously only told through cut scenes in Resident Evil 5, players now can experience the events that lead up to Jill’s “death”.

Not only is there a new episode but new playable characters are available for THE MERCENARIES REUNION. Consumers who download “LOST IN NIGHTMARES” will receive Excella Gionne and Barry Burton included as part of their download. Each character has their own unique weapon load outs, providing players with additional challenges as they shoot down as many enemies as they can within the time limit.

RE5’s second DLC episode “DESPERATE ESCAPE,” will be available on March 3 for Xbox Live Arcade and March 4 for PlayStation Network. RESIDENT EVIL 5: GOLD EDITION , available March 9, will include the original Resident Evil 5 game plus all downloadable content on a single Blu-Ray disk for PS3, and the original Resident Evil 5 plus a token for the downloads.
