For us Dead Space fans, January 2011 seems like an eternity as we wait for Dead Space 2 to be unleashed. Having recently played through the original Dead space now for the third time, I caught myself asking, how does Visceral Games plan to out do themselves with the sequel? I mean, come on, the original game was easily one of the best games of 2008 and you have to remember the line-up for that year.

Hideo Kojima dropped Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriot in 2008 and 2K dropped GTA IV in the same year. Some stiff competition to run into for a new IP ya think. In spite of this, the original Dead Space went on to make a lot of noise, primarily due to big mouth gamers like myself hailing it as the Resident Evil of this generation. Resident Evil fans don’t curse my existence, it’s just an opinion.

Today EA and Visceral Games are tightening up the new experience even further for Dead Space 2. Just recently EA showed off their new video of the game from GamesCom. The video is entitled HALO JUMP for obvious reasons, by the way, this video is using all in-game assets, check it out;

The development of SOCOM Special Forces which you know as SOCOM 4 is coming along quite nicely since our brief romp through the war torn city street locales represented in the game. Ambitious to continue to take the SOCOM experience to new heights, Zipper Interactive is definitely covering all bases in order to keep us old school SOCOM fans happy while offering new innovations that should attract those new school gamers to the original online shooter that brought us to where we are today in online console gaming.

With SOCOM: Special forces users can expect a SOCOM experience like none other. Now with the ability to utilize the Playstation Move, next-gen graphical eye-candy, and the sophisticated squad-command that performs smoothly, PS3 fans have a lot to be excited about.

Sony and Zipper Interactive have dropped some cool new images to wet your appetites;

With the recently released KILLZONE 3 multiplayer teaser, it seems Guerrilla Games has made some major upgrades to their already intense competitive fps shooter. Of course we’ve probably all watched the :47 second teaser over and over and by now you should be able to spot some of the cool updates coming to KILLZONE 3 competitive multiplayer.

Out the gate the teaser throws you right into the multiplayer action and immediately you notice the player weilding the Helghast Assault Rifle which is known for it’s high rate of fire. Surprisingly, the rifle now has what can be described as a form of red dot optic for better accuracy. Despite KILLZONE 2’s amazing multiplayer experience, it does get a bit stale running around trying to pick off enemies from quite a distance using ironsights with many of the weapons in the KILLZONE universe.

In addition to the Helghast assault rifle, the StA-14 rifle also supports a sniper scope as shown in the teaser. Please don’t mistake this rifle for the high-powered VC32 Sniper Rifle, it is not. In the teaser the player utilizes the StA-14 rifle equipped with the sniper scope to take out the enemy player in the mech before commandeering the mech himself. More than likely Guerrilla plans on adding weapon upgrades as players accomplish more objectives and rank up in multiplayer and I say bravo indeed.

As one of the many highlights to the games single-player campaign, KILLZONE 3’s melee attacks are some of the most rewarding. But what about multiplayer? I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to successfully execute a melee attack in KILLZONE 2 multiplayer. If the player doesn’t see you coming then sure, they’re eating the butt of your rifle, however, what about the scenarios where you run out of bullets and instead of switching to your sidearm you charge in for the melee kill. The enemy has to literally stand there and let you hit him twice. I’m not saying it’s impossible because on several occasions I have caught some players sleeping but with elite players forget about it.

Now quick and multiple melee kills cans be performed in the multiplayer of KILLZONE 3. The recent teaser actually shows two melee style kills in multiplayer. One where you can thrust your knife into the enemies chest and the other displays the player taking another player by the head and breaking his neck. Hopefully, more in your face melees are added to the multiplayer like the single-player melee where you can stick your blade into the enemies eye, pretty hardcore stuff, but someone has to do it.

Last but not least, the ability to commandeer vehicles in KILLZONE 3 multiplayer. So far from the recent GamesCom teaser and E3 footage we now know players will be able to man jetpacks and mechs, but what else? This writer is of the opinion that Guerrilla Games has more up their sleeve than what we’ve seen in this department.

The ability to enhance your weaponry with sophisticated optics, the ability to perform multiple and quick melee attacks, commandeer jetpacks and mech and god knows what else, it seems Guerrilla Games will have all their bases covered when KILLZONE 3 releases February 2011.

The Playstation faithful have been hoping for any kind of tidbits from Insomniac concerning their first-person shooter series Resistance. CEO, Ted Price of Insomniac just recently made headlines as Insomniac announced their involvement with an all-new project which will be a multiplatform title. So, where in the world is the next installment for Resistance? Is Resistance going multi-plat, God forbid, right.

Well, Insomniac has just released their brand new teaser for the much anticipated Resistance 3 which has actually been in development for more than two years and we could not be happier. Oh and yes, Resistance 3 is a PS3 exclusive if you were wondering.

Guerrilla Games and Sony has just released their all-new multiplayer trailer for KILLZONE 3 and from the looks of it, it will be one hell of a ride. Displaying it’s usual high level of graphical fidelity with upgraded touches over KILLZONE 2, KILLZONE 3 multiplayer is looking like a completely different beast. There were rumors that Guerrilla Games would introduce the ability to commandeer vehicles and now that is a fact. Not only will player be able to utilize the much talked about jetpack in competitive multiplayer, users will also have the option of reaping havok in a mech suit.

If you’ve played KILLZONE 2 you know know which mech I’m talking about. In the trailer below a player with a sniper rifle takes out a player inside the mech with death blow through the glass almost like a jack-move and then jump inside the mech and begins to do some major damage. Also something that KILLZONE fan will love is the enhanced melee attack in mulitplayer. Remember when it seemed like a chore to perform a melee attack with the butt of your rifle, forget about it. Now quite similar to the Modern Warfare or Battlefield Bad Company 2 melee attack, players can thrust a quick knife kill on the opponent. However, unlike the aforementioned games KILLZONE 3’s melee attack put the ‘O’ in ownage, you have to see it, it’s nasty.

Yo Sony, can we get a DEAD NATION release date? We need to play this game immediately. In development by Housemarque, DEAD NATION is looking like the ultimate zombie shoot’em up. Body parts come apart, blood and limbs splatter the environment and you are left to fend off these insatible undead ghouls by any means necessary. With some hands-on time with the game in June, the underlining word that best describes Sony’s new digital zombie-fest is FUN. And this might still be an understatement.

Sony not willing to comment on the reveal of Insomniacs next Resistance title as a reveal for the upcoming Gamescon.

According the gaming insiders at BeefJack, Sony has totally avoided the simple yes or no answer which might be good news;

“I’m afraid I can’t comment on this,” a SCEE rep told Beefjack when asked if we would see a reveal in Germany.

Oftentimes no comments strongly imply “yes” but right now we can’t comment. Insomniac has already made it known that they will be revealing a new PS3 project title sometime between now and Labor day and as hard core shooter fans it’s just time for us to see the 3rd Resistance title.

Gamescon is around the corner so no need to get antsy, we’ll know soon enough.

Sony has now announced the God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta PSP-3000 bundle which is now scheduled for a November 2nd release. There will also be pre-order bonuses with PSP and PS3 Themes and Avatars, the game’s soundtrack, an in-game “Legionnaire Skin” and a video roundtable of the game’s creative directors.

The bundle will come with a red and black PSP-3000, a copy of the game, a download voucher for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo all for $199.99.
